The Triangle’s Twinkling with Family Fun this Weekend

The Polar Express Pajama Party. Dec. 4th.  Barnes & Nobles (Area locations: Cary Commons, Brier Creek, Triangle Town Center, Crabtree Valley Mall).  Come in your PJs & celebrate 30 years of the book, The Polar Express, with crafts & more.



Christmas on Salem Street. Dec. 4th-6th. Downtown Apex. Tree lightings, horse-drawn carriages, a pancake breakfast, visits with Santa & an evening parade.

Infinity Ballet Theatre’s Dances with the Nutcracker. Dec. 5th & 6th. Halle Cultural Arts Center, Apex.  Enjoy the performance with hot chocolate & a cookie then head out to watch the Apex parade right after. Pictures with Santa, too! Grab your tickets early!


Free SproutSings Holiday Music Class.  Dec. 4th. 5:00-6:00pm. Nuvonivo Children’s Shop, Raleigh. Super fun family music class. Forty minute class with movement, play & instruments for babies, toddlers, preschoolers & kindergarteners.

An Evening with Elves. Dec. 4th. 6:00-8:30pm.  Marbles, Raleigh. Put on your PJs & join in some Elf-time holiday fun. Tickets go fast so hurry & get yours!

Teen Science Cafe. Dec. 4th. 6:00pm. Daily Planet Cafe in the Museum of Natural Sciences, Raleigh. Discover what happens when sound hits your ears & test your ability to match sounds with their images.  No registration required & free food vouchers for the first 50 teens to arrive.  Lots more First Friday events going on in the museum that evening, too!

Cinderella. Dec. 4th-20th. Raleigh Little Theatre. Musical comedy for all ages.

Gingerbread Dreams. Dec. 4th-21st. Halle Cultural Arts Center, Apex. 8th Annual Christmas Tree & Wreath Exhibition & Auction. All proceeds go to the Western Wake Crisis Ministry.  Stop on by & check out the beautiful Holiday themed exhibits.

The Polar Express Train Ride Dec. 4th-6th, 11th-13th &16th – 22nd. NC Transportation Museum, Spencer, NC. Hot Chocolate, Cookies, gifts from Santa along with a reading of The Polar Express. Just like in the movies.
Scandinavian Christmas Fair. Dec. 5th. NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh.  Explore the authentic celebration of holiday traditions from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland & Iceland. Enjoy performances, food, vendors, crafts & more.
Animals of Umstead & The Junior Ranger Program. Dec. 5th. 3:00-4pm. Umstead State Park, Raleigh.  Join a Park Ranger through the Umstead trails & learn about the local animals & their habitats. This program is for ages 6-12 years of age. Registration is required.
Sleigh Rides & Cider. Dec. 5th. 5:00-7:30pm. Historic Oak View County Park, Raleigh. Horse drawn carriage rides, apple cider, live music, crafts & Santa.
Garner Christmas Parade. Downtown Garner.  Dec. 5th at 2:00.  Parade theme is “Home for the Holidays”. Bands, floats, classic cars & Santa will bring in the holiday cheer.   Check out the other parades going around town this weekend…
IPREO Raleigh Winterfest: Tree Lighting Celebration. City Plaza on Fayetteville Street, Raleigh. Dec. 5th. 3:00-10:00pm. Huge holiday celebration with the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7:00pm. The popular IPREO ice rink, carousel rides, Santa’s village, food trucks & vendors along lots more will help kick off the Holiday celebration.  Check out the other tree lighting ceremonies going on around town this weekend...
Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis. Dec. 5th. St. Mary’s School, Raleigh. Don your best holiday themed costume & run/walk for a good cause.
Holiday Santa Trains. Dec. 5th, 6th, 12th & 13th. New Hope Valley Railway, New Hill. Ride a train with Santa through the beautifully holiday decorated train rails.  Grab your tickets quick because they sell out fast.
Crossroad Plaza Annual Tree Lighting & Toy Drive. Dec. 6th. 3:30-6:30pm. Cary. Music, food & visits from Santa and his reindeer. Toy Drive benefiting Zach’s Toy Chest which delivers toys to children receiving cancer treatments in NC hospitals.
Music Makers with the NC Symphony. Dec. 5th. 11:00-2pm. Marbles, Raleigh.  Check out the instrument zoo & listen to a performance by the  Triangle Youth Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet.
Holiday Crafts for Mommy. Dec. 5th. 10:00-12pm. Brushstroke Studio & Galleries, Raleigh. Kiddos ages 3-10 years old will be provided canvases, paintbrushes, aprons & paints to create a beautiful gift for Moms. Coffee & donuts are provided.  $20 fee & don’t forget to register in advance.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer The Broadway Series Musical.  Fletcher Opera Theatre, Raleigh.  Show runjn until Dec. 30th.
NC Chinese Lantern Festival. Open until Jan. 3rd. Koka Booth Amphitheater, Cary. Twenty light displays, vendors, crafts, performances, food & much more.
