Things to do with Kids on New Year’s Eve in & around Raleigh
First Night Raleigh 2017 – City Plaza, Raleigh
Did you know that this annual New Year’s Eve event is the state’s largest celebration? Come out to Artsplosure’s family-friendly festival and countdown to 2017 with over 100 performances in over 35 venues located in downtown Raleigh. From a Fantastical Ferris Wheel, a Giant Pirate Ship ride, music & dance performances, a People’s Procession, Art Putt Miniature Golf, Animal of the Hour, WRAL Countdown to Midnight and so much more. There will even be an early countdown for the kiddos, too! Cost: $10 before Dec. 31st. Tickets on site day of the event will be $14 for adults, $11 for ages 6-12 years. Family Skate into the New Year
Roll in 2017 with a NYE themed family skate night at these locations:
New Years Eve Skate Party at the United Skates of America in Raleigh with skating, pizza & favors. New Years Eve Roll the Bean at Jellybeans in Cary. Skate into 2017 including rolling the inside of Jellybeans with toilet paper at midnight. Skate under the stars at Downtown Raleigh Outdoor Ice Rink will be opened from 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Noon Year’s Eve at Marbles Kids Museum – Raleigh
A NYE bash for the smallest of party goers starts at 11:45 a.m. at Marbles. Ring in the “noon” year with bubble wrap fireworks and a jammin’ ball drop at this celebration.
Kids can bounce the afternoon away, enjoy pizza & drinks and make their own take-home snow. Parents are welcome to stay or drop-off. All children dropped off must be at least 4 years & potty trained. Event runs from 2:50 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Cost: $18 per child. Register online.
NC Chinese Lantern Festival & Fireworks– Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Cary
Celebrate the New Years immersed in more than 20 all new light displays with over a thousand LED lights. The festival is set to put on a spectacular NYE’s celebration with an array of cultural performances amongst its magical light displays. Including fireworks that will be happening at 9:30 p.m. over Symphony Lake. Skip the lines and purchase your tickets online. Cost: $10 for ages 3-17 years. $15 for ages 18 years and up. Ages 2 years and under are free.
Hap-Pea All Year Storytime at Barnes & Nobles – B&N at Crabtree Valley Mall, Triangle Town Center, Cary Commons & Streets at Southpoint. Raleigh, Cary & Durham.
Enjoy a New Years Eve storytime with your littles. Join B&N at 11:00 a.m. for storytime and activities as they explore the months of the year with the bestselling LMNO Peas.
Join this family celebration from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with engaging science activities, special planetarium shows, dance performances by StudioA, crafts & games with Kidzu Kid’s Museum, a photo booth & food trucks. A star-studded NYE kids countdown will be happening in the GlaxoSmithKline Fulldome. Cost: $5 per person.
New Year’s Eve Glow Zone at Skyzone – Raleigh
A NEON New Year’s Eve is awaiting you and your family. From 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. jump and dance the night away under electrifying Black Lights to the beats of DJ Mike. Don’t forget to wear your favorite neon colored gear. Cost: $15 for 60 minutes. $23 f0r 120 minutes.
