Fun Things to Do In & Around Raleigh With The Kids: December 3rd & 4th

Pokémon Day 

Saturday, December 3rd.  10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  NC Museum of Natural Sciences, Raleigh

Explore the world of Pokémon with a natural sciences twist.  Have fun making Pokémon crafts, match Pokémon to their real-life counterparts at the live animal table, learn about Citizen Science projects that use apps similar to Pokémon to track real animals for research and conservation.  Workshops for families will also be running throughout the day, too.

IPREO Raleigh Winterfest Celebration

Saturday, December 3rd.  12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  IPREO Ice Rink in the City Plaza, Downtown Raleigh

This holiday tradition is back with outdoor Ice Skating, a Ferris Wheel, Carousel, Super Slide, Santa’s Village, a Gingerbread Competition, Food Truck, Vendors and Mayor’s Tree Lighting.

Weekend Family-Friendly Tours: Fire & Ice

Saturday, December 3rd & Sunday, December 4th. 10:30 a.m.  NC Museum of Art, Raleigh

Look for art that’s hot and cool across the Museum’s collection with your family and a Museum guide.  Enjoy a half-hour tour with lively discussion and activities in the galleries.  FREE Half-hour for kids ages 5-11 and their adult companions.  If you have a Teen then check out the Teen Workshop: Altered Books workshop on Saturday, December 3rd at Noon.  Space is limited registered in advance.

Tarheel Tale Tellers

Sunday, December 4th.  1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. & 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Marbles Kids Museum, Raleigh

Watch as tales come to life through performances by the Tarheel Tale Tellers. For 15 years, the Tarheel Tale Tellers have performed high-energy adaptations of contemporary children’s illustrated books, and each performance is unique!

Toy Train Sale & Swap Meet

Saturday, December 3rd & Sunday, December 4th. 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.   Scott Building at State Fairgrounds, Raleigh

Families can explore the world of toy trains and all the accessories that go with each collection.  Kids Club activities, train races, and hands-on layouts will be available for families to enjoy.  Cost: $6 adults, children under 13 years are free.

Natural Explorations: Winter Wildlife Survival Skills

Sunday, December 4th.  2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Historic Yates Mill County Park, Raleigh

FREE program for all ages with an adult. Winter is coming. Learn about seasonal changes in nature and explore how various kinds of wildlife prepare for the cold, as well as what you can do to enhance your own winter survival skills. Preregistration is required.

PlayDays Grand Opening

Sunday, December 4th.  2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. PlayDays, Apex

PlayDays indoor open play space for ages 0-6 years old is having their Grand Opening Celebration with hot chocolate, balloon animals, face painting, holiday shopping with local vendors, performances and more.
