Weekend Activities for Kids & Families in & around the Raleigh area: April 9th-10th
April 4th- May 1st. Museum of Life & Sciences, Durham.
Kick off a month of astronomy with hands on exhibits in the lab. Enjoy learning about these themes: Stellar Science, Exploring Exoplanets, Extragalactic Astronomy, and Mission to Space. Come out to the Meet a Scientist event on May 10th led by bilingual scientist at local universities.
April 7th – 10th. NC Museum of Art
Celebrate this annual festival of arts & flowers by touring the museum’s beautiful collections or participating in a Scavenger Hunt or attending the Parent-Child Floral Workshop.
April 8th. 7:00pm-9:00pm. Halle Cultural Arts Center, Apex.
Bring your family for some dancing fun with traditional dance caller, Connie Carringer. Learn fun dances like the Squares, Circles, Appalachian & more. Live, old-time, string band music by local musicians. No experience or partner needed. $5 per family, $2 per person. Purchase tickets at the door.
April 9th & 10th. JC Raulston Arboretum, Raleigh.
Learn about the common birds and favorite plants in the garden. Explore and count the birds & nests you see then build a nesting bag or bird craft to take home. $5 per family, no registration. Event is for all ages.
April 9th. 11:00am- 3:0pm. Crowder Park, Apex.
Hop on over and have some froggy family fun. Learn about frogs and the clean water we all need. Crafts, activities, live music, food trucks and more. Meet live frogs and other reptiles. FREE event for all ages.
April 9th. 6:00pm-9:00pm. Lake Benson, Garner.
Kickoff this statewide event with activities designed to teach children and grownups about our universe. Telescopes will be available to gaze at the stars. Families are invited to bring their tents & spend a night for a fee. Pre-registration for camping is required.
April 9th. 2:00-6:00pm. Park West Village Shopping Center, Morrisville.
FREE festival. Bring your lawn chairs & picnic blankets and listen to live music, enjoy inflatable slides & bounce houses, rock wall climbing, a trackless train, an inflatable monster truck & jousting, face painting, a petting zoo and so much more. There will even be field day races kids (ages 3-14 years) can sign up for.
April 8th & 9th. PNC Arena, Raleigh.
Check out these gigantic monsters on wheels from world champions Grave Digger & Monster Mutter along with the return of Carolina Crusher. These huge trucks sit atop 66-inch-tall tires & weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds.
April 8th-17th. Raleigh Little Theatre.
Adapted by the book by E.B. White this play is a tale of friendship & loyalty. Bring your family to watch the adventures of a Wilbur the pig and his friend Charlotte, the spider, as they try to make it to the County Fair.

In addition to the 5K there will be a special Kids Fun Run for 12 years and under. This run supports Science Outreach in North Carolina.

FREE event celebrating Earth Day with live music, a kids zone, bounce houses, food trucks, environmental workshops & more.
April 9th & 10th. 10:00am – 4:00pm. NC Museum of Art, Raleigh.
Join the museum at the Rose Garden at Raleigh Little Theatre for this FREE activity. Create miniature works of art inspired by our natural surroundings. Afterwards bring your family to watch Charlotte’s Web performed by RLT. Art making is free, tickets to the performance can be purchased here.

Walk or run this 2-3 mile course. Sponsored by the Student Government Association of Wake Tech Community College and race will benefit InterAct of Wake County. Kids 12 & under are FREE.
April 9th. 9:00am. WakeMed Soccer Park, Cary.
Sign up to run as a competitive or recreational runner. Proceeds will go to sending kids to camp.
